Can you grind my coffee the way I want it?
Yes, We offer numerous size options for pre ground coffee beans, but we highly recommend that you choose to ship our coffees as whole bean coffees. This allows you to custom grind your beans for your preferred brewing method. It also means, that you get the freshest and most aromatic tasting coffee every time.
How to Reduce Bitterness in Coffee?
- Ensure cleaning your brewing equipment; coffee is like a sponge absorbs older brewing flavors.
- Adjust/Reduce your brewing time; the back end of a coffee brew is typically where all the bitter notes come from.
- Pay attention to water temperature; it is recommended to only heat your water up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, while the boiling point of water is 212 degrees. So, it is playing it close! and boiling water can burn your coffee.
- Use the appropriate coffee grind for your brewing method. For example, one of the reasons a fine grind can lead to bitterness is that it causes over-extraction, which means you are extracting the bitter elements since those come at the end of the brew.
- Invest in a scale ( they are cheap and around $15), Measuring in grams is more accurate than ounces/spoons. Also try different coffee-to-water ratio recipes for your perfect cup of coffee.
How to Store Coffee?
The best place to store coffee is within an airtight container, somewhere cool, dark and dry. Please DO NOT refrigerate your coffee. Coffee is like baking soda. It will absorb any odors in your refrigerator resulting in a fresh-smelling ‘fridge and strange-tasting coffee.
You can store unopened roasted coffees without much flavor loss for about a year. Coffee is still good past these dates if kept properly, but flavor fades away quickly over time. Once you open roasted beans or ground coffee you should plan to use it up within 1-2 weeks for the best flavor. That is why it is always best to buy small amounts instead of larger 5 pound packages.

What farm does your famous brand coffee come from?
We source the beans from many small family farms. Some at high elevation with shade grown coffee fields that flourish on the edge of the mountains and some at medium elevation with full sun. The workers hand pick every coffee cherry, and hand wash them too. Matter of fact, they do it all by hand right down to the drying of the beans in natural sunlight with beans spread over wooden planks. The same way it was done hundreds of years ago, an old world method. No automated picking machines or careless processing. We focus on environmentally friendly processing that is good for the surrounding habitat.
